If you're like me and prefer to buy frozen chicken wings (I know, fresh is best but we keep them in the freezer for those "what are we doing for dinner tonight?" nights), I've got a hack to make them super crispy every time.
When you air fry, normally you would just put the frozen food (fries, onion rings) right into the air fryer and cook them. But with chicken wings, after a lot of trial and error, we discovered that the best way to get that perfect crisp is to bake them first. That way, you get the ice particles off before they air-fry, which makes the wings crispy!
Here's how to make them deliciously crispy:
Put the wings on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake them in your oven at 350° F for 20 minutes.
Spray your air fryer pan or basket with olive (or canola) oil spray then add the wings. Then give the wings a light spray of the oil.
Cook them at 400° F until they're crispy. The cook time will vary depending on your fryer and the amount of wings you're cooking. Check them every 10 minutes or so and give them a shake or turn them over with tongs to get an even cook.
That's it! Enjoy your crispy wings! Serve them with buffalo sauce or make a yummy asian sauce and add sesame seeds and green onions.
