Quick & Easy Dinner Rolls

Delicious dinner rolls don't have to take hours to make. These rolls take about 45 minutes to make, start to finish, and they're perfectly crusty on the outside, and buttery and soft on the inside. They're a delicious accompaniment to any main dish, but especially with a saucy dinner like my ravioli with a creamy tuscan sauce.

Here's how to make them:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1/3 cup canola oil

  • 1/4 cup white sugar

  • 2 TBS active dry yeast

  • 1/2 TSP fine sea salt

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 1 TBS unsalted butter, softened

  • 3-4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/8 cup milk, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400° F.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk the water, oil, sugar, and yeast. Let sit uncovered until yeast is bubbly, 8-10 minutes.

  3. Stir in the beaten egg, softened butter and salt.

  4. Either in a stand mixer or by hand, add flour, one cup at a time until you have a soft dough that isn’t sticky.

  5. Knead the dough by hand for about 10 minutes or 5 minutes with a mixer.

  6. Divide the dough into 15 even pieces and, using your hands, form them into balls.

  7. Place the dough balls in a greased 9"x13" pan and cover with a kitchen towel.

  8. Let the dough rise for at least 10 minutes and up to 30 minutes in a warm place.

  9. Lightly brush the dough balls with the milk and bake on the middle rack for 10-12 minutes, or until barely browned.

  10. Serve warm with butter or dip them in your favorite sauce and enjoy!
